Disassembly and assembly methods and precautions of hydraulic cylinder
The disassembly and assembly of hydraulic cylinders is a process that requires careful operation and involves multiple steps and precautions. To ensure the safety and efficiency of the disassembly and assembly process, it is necessary to follow the correct steps.

1. Preparation for disassembly and assembly
(1)Ensure adequate cooling:
During the operation of the hydraulic cylinder, high temperatures will be generated. Therefore, before disassembling the hydraulic cylinder, the equipment must be stopped, and the hydraulic cylinder must be fully cooled. Premature disassembly may pose a safety risk.

(2)Prepare tools:
Before starting disassembly, make sure that all necessary tools are ready, including cleaning agents, lubricants, markers, rags, brushes, and oil pans for waste liquids, cleaning agents, and lubricants. At the same time, check the appearance of the hydraulic cylinder to see if there is wear, rust, etc., so that targeted treatment can be carried out during the disassembly process.

(3)Clean the hydraulic cylinder:
Before disassembling the hydraulic cylinder, be sure to clean the dirt on the surface of the cylinder to prevent it from entering the cylinder and affecting subsequent use. At the same time, ensure that the work area is clean and tidy. This is not only conducive to maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment, but also reduces the interference of oil dust on the work.

2.Disassembly and assembly steps
(1)Drain the cylinder:
First, remove the joints on the oil inlet and outlet, and then completely drain the oil in the cylinder to prevent oil spillage during disassembly.
(2)Separate the connector:
Use a wrench or screwdriver to separate the pipe and connector from the hydraulic cylinder. Be careful to avoid hitting directly with a hammer to prevent damage to the equipment.
(3)Remove the end cover:
Use appropriate tools to remove the end cover. Be careful not to damage the end cover and gasket during operation to prevent damage to the cylinder or other parts.
(4)Remove the piston rod:
Remove the piston rod from the cylinder. If necessary, you can remove the seals and O-rings before and after the piston rod.
(5)Separate the piston:
Separate the piston from the cylinder. If the connection between the piston and the cylinder is tight, you can choose an appropriate relaxation method according to the actual working situation, such as using a handwheel, hammer, etc.
(6)Remove the cylinder body:
If necessary, you can use a disassembler to remove the cylinder body.
(7)Remove internal parts:
Finally, remove small parts such as seals and O-rings inside the cylinder.

3. Precautions for disassembly and assembly
(1)Depressurization:
Before disassembling the hydraulic cylinder, make sure that the hydraulic circuit has been completely depressurized. Otherwise, once the joints are loose, high-pressure oil may spray out quickly, causing danger. Pressure relief can be achieved by loosening the handwheel or adjustment screw of the overflow valve and other components. After the pressure relief is completed, the power supply or power source should be cut off to stop the hydraulic equipment from running.
(2)Prevent damage:
During the disassembly process, avoid damaging the top thread of the piston rod, the oil port thread, the surface of the piston rod, and the inner wall of the cylinder sleeve. To prevent the bending or deformation of slender parts such as the piston rod, use pads for balanced support when placing.
(3)Sequential disassembly:
The structure and size of hydraulic cylinders vary, so the disassembly sequence may be different. But it is usually necessary to follow the order of draining oil, removing the cylinder head, and removing the piston or piston rod.

(4)Prevent pollution:
During the disassembly of the hydraulic cylinder, its parts should be kept away from dust and impurities in the surrounding environment as much as possible. Therefore, the disassembly work should be carried out in an environment that is as clean as possible. After the disassembly is completed, to prevent the parts from being contaminated, all exposed parts should be covered with plastic sheets or other appropriate materials.
(5)Check parts:
After disassembly, each part should be carefully checked to determine which ones can continue to be used, which ones need to be repaired before being used again, and which ones must be replaced.
(6)Cleaning Parts:
All parts must be carefully cleaned before reassembly.
(7)Correct installation of sealing device:
When installing the O-ring, you must avoid stretching it to the point of permanent deformation, so as not to affect its sealing performance. At the same time, during the installation process, make sure that the O-ring does not roll or twist, otherwise it may cause oil leakage. When installing Y-type and V-type sealing rings, you need to pay special attention to their installation direction. The wrong installation direction may cause oil leakage.
①For Y-shaped sealing rings, their lips should be aligned with the oil chamber with pressure, and it is necessary to distinguish whether they are used for shafts or holes. V-shaped sealing rings are composed of supporting rings, sealing rings and pressure rings of various shapes. When the pressure ring presses the sealing ring, the supporting ring can make the sealing ring form a seal. When installing, the opening of the sealing ring should be facing the pressure oil chamber. When adjusting the pressure ring, it should be based on no oil leakage to avoid excessive tightness causing excessive sealing resistance.
②If the sealing device is matched with the sliding surface, an appropriate amount of hydraulic oil should be applied during assembly. All O-rings and dust rings should be replaced after disassembly.
(8)Check the piston and piston rod:
After the piston and piston rod are assembled, it is necessary to measure their coaxially and full-length straightness to ensure that they do not exceed the allowable error range.
(9)Check the piston assembly:
After assembly, there should be no resistance when the piston assembly moves, the resistance should be uniform, and there should be no phenomenon of varying sizes.
(10) Install the hydraulic cylinder:
When installing the hydraulic cylinder on the main engine, it is necessary to add a sealing ring between the oil inlet and outlet and ensure that it is properly tightened. This can effectively prevent oil leakage and ensure the normal operation of the hydraulic system.
(11) Exhaust gas:
After assembly, to remove the gas inside the cylinder, it should be reciprocated several times under low pressure conditions. This can ensure that the gas in the cylinder is effectively removed, thereby ensuring the normal operation of the hydraulic system.
